Asian American Studies and Asian American Cuisine are intrinsically linked in their role in sharing narratives, histories, and cultural experiences of Asian Americans. We challenge participants to examine their perceptions of how we choose to define certain cuisine and histories. In this presentation, we will explore untaught landmark events in American history that shaped the nation. We will explore the precedent for allyship and cultural exchange of immigrant communities. Finally, we will explore our unconscious bias and the arbitrary boundaries we set on immigrant cuisines. By the end of this session, we hope to propel greater narratives in defining Asian American Cuisine and the role Asian American Studies plays in those narratives.
