For many decades, Asian Americans have founded and joined community music ensembles to preserve ancestral cultures, adapt to life in the United States, create space in local music ecosystems and racial landscapes, and even reject elements of homeland cultures. MAARC is currently working to document 70 of these ensembles. We will be discussing our early findings in this presentation.
